Tommy Lee-5-1024x1024Lee was born Thomas Lee Bass in Athens on October 3 in 1962. He was the son of David Lee Thomas Bass (American U.S. Army sergeant) and Vassiliki "Voula"Voula Papadimitriou (Greek, Basilike Papademetriou), a contestant in the year 1957's Miss Greece beauty contest. Athena is his younger sister and a drummer. Lee was just two years old when his father relocated the family to California. He also received his first drumsticks at the age of four. He also received his first drum set at 16. Lee resigned from high school in order to pursue a career in music and began with Suite 19, a L.A.-based group that was a club. As a teen He listened to Led Zeppelin, Van Halen, Cheap Trick, Kiss, AC/DC and Sweet. John Bonham, Tommy Aldridge and Alex Van Halen were his main drumming inspirations. Terry Bozzio also has a major influence.
