Tom Hanks

Tom Hanks-5-1024x767Hanks was seen with Ron Howard in his next character, which was as Commander and Astronaut Jim Lovell in Apollo 13 (1995). Many critics praised the film and the performances of the entire cast, that included actors Kevin Bacon, Bill Paxton, Gary Sinise, Ed Harris and Kathleen Quinlan. The film was nominated for nine Academy Awards, and it was awarded two. Hanks was the voice of Sheriff Woody in Disney/Pixar's computer-animated film Toy Story (1995). His directorial debut came one year later with the film You Do! (1996) which follows the rise and fall of a 1960s-era pop group, also playing the part of a music producer. Richard Schickel of Time magazine called his performance "charming" and the majority of experts agreed that Hanks role in the film earned him a place among the premier romantic-comedy stars of his generation.
