Alicia Machado

 Yoseph Machado, alias Fajardo (Spanish pronunciation"a'lisja ma'tSado"; born December 6 1976) is a Venezuelan-American actress and TV host, as well as a beauty queen, and singer. She was Miss Venezuela 1995 and then Miss Universe 1996. It was her fourth woman from Venezuela to be named Miss Universe.Machado was born in Maracay, Venezuela. Her father was a toy shop owner who moved to Spain and her family moved to Cuba before the Cuban revolution.Machado began performing in the early years of her life. She began dancing at age four and began acting at 12.Machado attended the college for about a year and a half, but she left to pursue modeling and appearing in commercials.Machado was crowned the winner of in 1995 the Miss Maracay pageant, and after that, she won the pageant in 1995, the Miss Venezuela pageant representing Yaracuy state and then the Miss Universe 1996 crown in Las Vegas. She refused to have plastic surgery during her early stage of training. This is an important aspect of Venezuelan beauty pageant culture. Jacqueline Aguilera was the Miss World 1995 runner-up. This marks the second consecutive year that two Venezuelans have won two world titles from the same contest. Machado's reign came as American businessman Donald Trump took ownership of the Miss Universe pageant. As she was preparing for Miss Universe, Machado underwent extreme diets. Machado claimed that the day she was crowned Miss Universe, she weighed 116 pounds and was anorexic and bipolar.
