Susan Sarandon Bio
It was 1968.
Democratic Convention, and there was a casting call for a film with a variety
of parts for young people who disrupted the event. Joe (1970) was selected for
auditions in New York by two recent Catholic University graduates. Chris
Sarandon was not selected even though he prior studies in acting. Susan, his
wife Susan was offered a prominent part as Susan Compton who was the daughter
of Bill Compton (Dennis Patrick). Dad Bill, Susan's drug dealer lover, is
killed in the film. Joe (Peter Boyle) is a bigot working on an assembly line,
is next introduced to Joe (Sarandon). Janet is a character who falls in love
with Dr. Frank n Furter, plays the role of Janet in the film The Rocky Horror
Picture Show (1975). After more than 15 years Sarandon was finally able to
actively advocate for Annie in Bull Durham (1988), traveling between Rome to
Los Angeles at her expense. She stated "It was an incredible script... it
dispelled a lot of myths and challenged the American definition of what success
is". "I went to the studio with Kevin Costner, sex some actors in the
studio, and then hopped back on the plane. Tim Robbins (1988), her Bull Durham
supporting actor, already had two sons in 1992 and placed Sarandon in a position
that she was able to leave her home and take on demanding roles. This was the
result of four Academy Award nominations in 1990s and the best actress award
for Dead Man Walking (1995). Louis Malle's Atlantic City (1980) was her first
Academy Award nomination.
